The Pegasi's Plague - #6 Story for AAWC

Hi everyone! I am here with the sixth story for AAWC! The prompt this time around was "Smile" and I used it in my story.:) I also have a Pegasus as a character.:)

I walked through the woods, my mind wandering and thinking about all that I could. No one at the castle understood my philosophical approach to life, but I couldn't help but wonder about deep things. My companion, Azara, a Pegasus, trotted next to me, her neck dipped to the ground.
"Have you heard about the war, Azara?" I asked, my tone low as I brushed my hand on her shoulder.
Her ears pricked up and her midnight blue eyes, filled with what looked like a galaxy, gazed up at me.
Yes.
Pegasus couldn't speak, but my people had learned their language. It was all in what their eyes said.
"The King declared it this morning," I said, staring down at the forest floor. "What do you think this will mean?"
Death. War. Things unseen. Possible destruction.
"Yes, but what deeper still? How will this affect the people? How will they cope when they see their fathers, brothers, and sons leaving to die?" I questioned. I didn't want my people to suffer. "I worry about their futures. About our future as a people and kingdom."
Azara nodded her head. The future is unsure. But worrying about it will not alter it. You will always have me through tough times and times of rejoicing though.
"Of course!" I cried as I looked down at my friend. She always supported my philosophical ideas and was a good balance, bringing me back to reality when I went too far into worry. She was solemn and firm, the perfect companion for me.
"Thank you," I whispered to her. She nodded again.
When we got back to the castle, everyone was racing around frantically. I bolted to the throne room where the King was pacing in front of his throne, advisers at his side.
"What's going on?" I asked, pounding toward him. "Father, what's wrong?"
He looked at me with angry eyes.
"They are already attacking us. They have people from their land coming here and poisoning all of our animals. If we don't have our loyal Pegasi by our sides, then this battle may as well be finished now."
"What?" I gasped. "Have you closed the borders?"
He nodded. "And I have added extra guard. No one will get in, but half of our Pegasi are already gone."
"No." I sighed. Half of the Pegasi. "We need to weed out the people that have already crossed the border."
"We already have, yet the Pegasi are still falling like flies. The stables are under lock down, yet somehow they're still dying!"
"What do we do?" I asked, feeling my heart rate increase.
"We do not know what else to do."
I twirled a piece of my hair into a twist, then let it out. With a hopeless sigh, I replied.
"I know you will do what you can." I bowed quickly and hurried out to the stables. I had to see this with my own eyes.
I pulled open the stable doors after passing multiple fleets of guards and saw most of the Pegasi dead. I gasped, my eyes filling. The Pegasi were loyal creatures that everyone respected and here they lay,
I crouched down to one of the dying Pegasi and looked into its black eye, the galaxy in it faded. It shuddered as its last breath was taken and I read the single word in its eyes.
Help.
I rubbed my hand across its unmoving side and closed my eyes.
"I'm so sorry."
I had seen enough. This wasn't just food poisoning. Someone had unleashed a plague upon our Pegasi. I got up and walked out to the guards.
"Where is Azara? She was not with the others."
They looked to one another.
"She is in a separate stable. We hoped that she would not get poisoned either. She's under more protection than any others."
I nodded. "I want to take her away so she doesn't catch this plague."
"Plague?" they asked.
"Yes. It's a plague, that's why it's spreading."
"Oh," they trailed off. "The thing is, Your Highness, is that while you were gone, she seems to have caught it regardless."
"What?" I shouted. "Where is the stable?" I demanded. They pointed to the westward stable and I flew to it. I broke open the door and saw Azara lying still on a bed of hay.
"Azara!" I cried, but my voice broke. I crumbled to her side and looked into her eyes, the galaxy there beginning to fade, but she still breathed.
"Azara..." I whispered, touching her soft gray muzzle. "You promised you would stay with me." I mumbled. I felt a heavy weight on my chest.
I'm sorry. I have failed you.
"No! I have failed you. I should have done something differently."
The war has just begun, and I need you to be strong without me.
"I need you though," I said, tears wetting my face. She nickered a laugh.
You have never needed me.
I stared at her blurry face. "Don't go. Please. I love you."
Her Galaxy faded even more.
I must. Please, I need to know that you will be okay without me.
I swallowed, shaking my head.
I need to know. Eileen.
I closed my eyes. She only called me by my name if things were serious. Mustering my strength, I nodded my head.
"I'll be okay," I choked out. A smile touched her horse lips.
I love you, too.
With the same smile, she was gone, her life ended as a war began.

I'm terrible!!! Why do I keep making sad stories where people die or fade out of existence??XD I even was planning on making this a happy story, but I guess my default is I'm gonna kill as many characters as I can.XD
I hope you liked it though, I had fun making it!;)

Creating Worlds Writing Camp - Project Three + Weekly Writing Prompts #6 and #7

Yay! I'm finally posting my story!:)
I used five prompts-

The prompts this round were so cool, I loved them!:D

I didn't want to have to feel the pain of my parent's deaths. It was too overwhelming. My grief turned me into a cold shell of who I used to be. Joyful. Full of life.
I stared blankly at the class room wall, my mind numb except for the fact that I wanted to be free of this pain. Everyone had left the school by now, but I hadn't even noticed.
"Corinne! The last bus is leaving and I have to get to my doctor's appointment. You need to leave, I'm sorry," the principal poked her head through the door. I snapped to attention and snatched my bag up.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I'll leave." I slipped out of the class room and walked out to the schoolyard when I began to feel all the grief of going back to my aunt's house come back to me.
I hesitated as I decided whether to go back home or to stall more. A trail leading into the forest at the edge of the school caught my eye and I froze. It had been so long. I was curious to see if everything I had seen so long ago still stayed there, maybe even Ronan could help me with my grief. I laughed at the thought of him caring enough to help me, but I walked toward the trail anyway.
I crossed the road and went through the secret trail Ronan and I had found so long ago.
Memories flooded over me as I walked in the forest, it was bittersweet, but it was better than all of the sadness I felt at my aunt's house. And everywhere else.
A sign Ronan and I had made stood nailed to a tree, saying-
HERE BE FAERIES
Were they all still here? Would Ronan help me? I needed Ronan's help though. The forest was so quiet. So silent.
I called out his name in the silence, like he would actually hear. I laughed. Like he would actually care.
I sat on a tree stump and placed my head in my hands. I felt all of my grief towards my parents well up in my eyes, but I had a wall around my heart that stopped me from crying. I couldn't cry again, never again.
Glowing blue spots of light caught my eye and I glanced up. Cerulean butterflies flittered around my face and I almost smiled. They were so beautiful. They flew around my red hair, weaving around myself.
"Corinne?"
I gazed upwards to see Ronan, coming out of the trees.
"What are you doing here?"
"I-I-" I stammered, staring at him. He was so old now. I looked down at my toes. "I wanted your help."
"My help? Why would I help you?"
I shrugged. "I just- I didn't. I just thought maybe...I don't know."
He glared at me. "You do know."
"I just thought maybe after all we went through as kids...maybe you would help me." I frowned. "I know you won't though." I stood up, refusing to make eye contact.
"Wait..." his faery wings twitched. "What-um- what's wrong?"
"Never mind. I shouldn't have come-" I continued to walk away, but he flew towards me and grabbed my shoulder.
"Just wait-" he frowned. "Maybe I could help."
I paused. Should I tell him?
"My parents died," I whispered.
"Oh," he replied, taken aback. "I'm sorry. Well, what do you want me to do about it?"
I shrugged again. "I don't know. Is there anyway for you to make it so that I can't feel?" I laughed half heartedly.
He shook his head. "No. But maybe...I could take your bad memories."
"You could?" I gasped. "Please!"
"Are you sure though? This is serious."
"Do it," I answered. "Do it."
He frowned at me. "Okay."
He lifted his hands to my temple and I felt a cold wind suck through my brain as memories I had shattered and were taken away.
"What do you want me to do with them?" he questioned. Wispy gray, black, and blue tendrils swirled around his hands. Those were my memories that I no longer remembered. I just knew that they were sad.
"Do you have somewhere that I can store it?"
He nodded. Making a gesture with his hand, a white box popped into existence.
He stuffed the wisps into the box and shut it tightly. He made another gesture and a sharpie pen showed up. The sharpie danced over the box and he showed it to me.
Bad memories. Do not open.
"Whoever opens this will have the memories as their own. I'd recommend locking it up."
"Okay." I took the box away from him with a smile. I felt like all of my problems had been taken from me, leaving a hole in my mind. I didn't know if I liked it or not yet.
"Thank you, Ronan." I hesitated as I stared at him. I felt like hugging him, but our past still was in tact. I shakily put out my hand. He took it and we shook hands.
"You're welcome," he murmured. The box clutched under my arm, I walked back to my home.
***
Twenty years later...
I lay on my bed after another day at work. It had been another day. Another day with something inside me missing. I knew it was those memories, but I knew that they were terrible, horrible. I couldn't open it, but yet I still crept toward my closet in my apartment.
After pawing through a few bins, I found the cardboard box. My hands shook as I held it. I didn't know if I wanted the memories. I knew it had to do with my parents and how they weren't around. It would be heartbreaking, I knew that. I just had to feel whole again. I had hid from my memories for too long. I pulled the tabs back and let the memories wash over me and things came back with blindingly clear pain, sorrow, and grief. I sobbed as I mourned the loss of my parents. Their deaths. I let my walls break around my heart as I filtered the memories. I was dizzy after my crying, but I felt better getting my sadness out, although there was more deeper inside me. I gasped for a ragged breath. I felt broken, yet whole. I was completed then shattered, but I knew I was going to survive. No matter what, I wouldn't let this sadness break me for good. I wouldn't hide from my pain.
***
I hope you liked the story, I'm not sure how much I like the ending since I feel like it's a bit common. I want to do something different for one of my next stories. I want to do more of a story story.XD If...that makes any sense...XD GO DRAGONS!!!

I never made my weekly writing prompt for last week, but to balance it out, here's two for this week!:)

If these inspired you in some way or if you wrote a story based off of one of them (or both of them), I would love to know in the comments below!:)

Glazed Part Twenty-Five

Hi everyone!:)
YAY FOR THE NEXT PART OF GLAZED!XD
They whizzed through the mountains and Emma could barely catch her breath.
“Hang on, we go fast!” Wes cried. Emma gripped the sleigh in front of her and gulped in a breath as the air burned her cheeks.
“That's okay, the faster we go the faster we get to Jaclynn,” Emma replied, but her voice was carried away by the wind.
“So, what made the queen go all magic crazy?” he questioned as he steered Crumbles through the maze of sprinkles and glaze.
“Oh, well, it was my fault, I guess,” Emma sighed and grabbed her cap from falling off, “I got engaged and then she was worried for me and freaked out since I had just met him that day, and she said she didn't think I should marry him but I disagreed and we-” Emma was cut off.
“Wait. You got engaged to someone you had just met... that day?” Wes asked, gazing at her like she was insane.
“Yep, so, she got upset and I got upset then she tried to walk away and it was just so frustrating that she kept leaving me and so I grabbed her hand to try to stop her from leaving again, but I ended up just ripping her glove off-”
“WAIT. You got...engaged... to someone you had just met that day?” Wes exclaimed, gawking.
“Yes!” Emma cried, exasperated, “Stop interrupting, please! As I was saying, she wore the gloves all the time, so I didn't even know why she wore them, except for some crazy fantasies I imagined up-”
“But how could you even think about marrying a stranger?” Wes cut in again.
“Wes, oh my gosh, stop interrupting me! But, if you have to know so badly, Cedric is no stranger. We are in love,” Emma crossed her arms.
“Really? How can you know who he truly is if you've only met him the day of? Do you even know his last name?”
Emma grimaced, “Fine, I'll amuse you, but you are acting just like Jaclynn! His last name is...of the Pastry Isles...”
“Favorite food?” he interrogated.
“Pastries,” Emma fibbed.
“Best Friend's name?”
“Gus!”
“Eye color?”
“Brown!” Emma exclaimed. Something she actually remembered.
“Foot size?”
“How in the world would I know that?!” Emma shouted.
“Have you even had a meal with him yet?” Wes asked, looking at her, “What if you don't like the way he eats, what if he eats with his mouth open?”
“Ew!” she screeched, “He is a PRINCE!”
Wes raised an eyebrow.
“Those things don't matter! If it's true love, which it is, you can look past all that stuff!” Emma said.
“You mean their personality, their character, who they are inside?”
“No! Would you stop questioning my choices? It's true love and that's that!”
“I don't think so,” Wes disagreed.
“It doesn't matter what you think. Are you an expert?” Emma snapped.
“No,” Wes replied and looked down at his reins and out into the forest, “but I have friends who are.”
Emma bit back mean remarks, but her eyes rolled, “You have friends who are love experts? I'm surprised you even have friends.”
He frowned, having heard something. Wes' eyes searched around him and Crumbles slowed his pace, his ears twitching.
“What? What's wrong?” Emma asked, her heart beating faster. Wes didn't reply. He sniffed the air. “What?” she shouted.
“Shhhhh!” he hushed her. Emma gazed around at the forest. She didn't see anything.
“Crumbles, go!” Wes snapped his reins and Crumbles bolted.
“What's going on, Wes? What is it?” she shouted, her hair flying as they tore through the forest.
“Spoiled whipped cream wolves.”

Bwahaha! Cliff hanger!XD You'll get to know what spoiled whipped cream wolves are in the next part.:) Yay!

Creating Worlds Writing Camp - Project Two

Hi everyone!:)
I am here with my second project for CWWC!:)
I used all three prompts plus one from the previous round-

I went through my sister's closet as I searched for something that might have been important. Maybe she kept a diary. I didn't know, but I wanted to see what she might have had. As I peeled away a pile of dirty laundry, I spotted a cardboard box with writing on it. I dusted away more pieces of clothing and picked the box up, studying it with a shrewd gaze. On the sides and top were written the words: Bad memories. Do NOT open.
I was surprised. How were bad memories stored in a box? In letters? A diary? I carried the heavy box away into my room and was about to open it when my mom yelled at me that it was time to go to school. I sighed, crammed the box into my empty backpack, and ran to my mom. She drove me to school and when I picked my backpack up, it felt like it weighed a hundred pounds.
"What's in your backpack?" Mom questioned and I shook her question away.
"Books."
I staggered into the school. Dragging the bag on my back throughout the whole day, I finally managed to take a break at the end of my last class. After the teacher asked me if I was okay, she left. I pulled the box out and stared at it.
I was insatiably curious. I knew that my sister would hate me for reading her diary, but I was desperate to know more about her. She had disappeared for three years two years ago and when she got back, she just stayed in her room. I wanted to know more. Mustering my courage, I opened the box and immediately passed out.
Blackness.
Darkness.
That's all I saw, but I FELT more. I felt pain. Betrayal. I felt the knowledge of war and inward struggles. I felt death.
Memories flooded after the feelings, but they weren't my memories. They were my sisters. I was her.
"Help! Help!" I yelled, screaming at the top of my lungs. I was piled under fallen debris, pinned to the ground. I needed a hero. So that's what I became. No one was coming. I wiggled my arm until it finally came out from under a block of concrete. My arm and fingers were bloody and I was sure my wrist was broken, but I tried using my elbow to move a piece of debris off my chest. Tears pricked at my eyes and I knew this was hopeless. My whole other arm was underneath a pillar, crushed. I couldn't move it, but I felt the pain. I called out again for help. I knew no one would come looking for me though, this was a war zone. No one had expected everything to change so suddenly and no one expected survivors.
"Caitlyn?"
I froze. "I'm here!"
The rubble was being torn away and I saw a pair of blue, smoke filled eyes peer up at me.
"Daniel!"
The memory changed and I felt the the deep pain of losing a close friend. One of my best friends. I cried as I stared out at the sea, lying on the pavement that met the sand, scattered pieces of glass from a picture frame I had broken when I had tripped. A pair of strong arms pulled me closer and I cried into Daniel's shirt. I would never see someone ever again.
Daniel appeared multiple times throughout all of the random bad memories. He was my strength and rock for when everything was hopeless. After more heartbreaking scenes disappeared, a single memory was left. It began.
Fire and smoke filled the room I was in, and I stumbled through it. I had to get out before the building collapsed, but I had to find Daniel. He was still here and he would never leave me behind. I called out his name, but I didn't get a response. I turned into a room and saw Daniel tearing through a burnt file cabinet, pulling out singed papers. I recognized this room. It was the general's room.
"Daniel! What are you doing? We need to leave, leave that there!" I yelled. He whizzed around to face me.
"Leave, Caitlyn," he replied as he stuffed papers into his arms.
"I'm not going to leave you! This place is collapsing!" I glanced at the papers. Scrawled on the white sheets was battle strategies, allies in this war, all of our secret information.
"We don't need that!" I reached for his arm, but he pulled away. "Come on!"
"Go away!" he demanded, but I refused. I continued to beg him to leave as the building crumbled around us. He wasn't leaving without the papers. That's when things began to click.
This wouldn't be important if he were on our side. He was taking the secret information because he...was on the other side. He was a spy. Things began to form and as I connected the lines, he took more information.
"You're a spy!" I shouted, searching in his eyes for the man I thought I knew. His eyes darkened and he scowled.
"I was hoping you wouldn't find out," he whispered, genuinely disappointed. "I never wanted to have to do this." he pulled his gun from his belt and pointed it at me. Tears washed over my soot covered cheeks. It had never crossed my mind that this would ever happen.
***
I bolted upright, the memories fading. I couldn't believe everything that I had seen.
I now knew more about my sister than I had ever known.
I wished I had never opened the box.
***
I hope you liked the story.:) I loved all of the prompts this time around. I am so excited for the next round!:)

Into a Memory - #5 Story for AAWC

 Hi everyone!:)
I know this is double posting, but I really wanted to post this today!:)
I had so much fun making the story for AAWC this round. I literally felt so sad while writing it, but don't worry, it was a good sad!;D
I included the prompt "Fade" and I included our team mascot, the Pegasus!:D

I clung to the tandem bike, pushing hard against the pedals even though I knew that I wasn't doing anything. A figment of imagination couldn't do anything, but Tilly loved me even if I couldn't help. Tilly rode in front of me and pumped, pumped, pumped. My wings fluttered against the breeze and I breathed in the fresh crisp breeze, savoring this amazing memory.
"I'm gonna go back now," she said.
"Wait, go down the hill here!" I replied, pointing to the small hill that we always went down.
"K, hold on!" Tilly swung the handles to the left and we slid down the hill, our stomachs flying to our throats.
"Now home!" I called and we pedaled to our house. We walked into our room and collapsed onto the bed, giggling to one another. I tucked my wings in and stood up, not wanting to stay too long on my wings.
"We should probably go to sleep now. It's school tomorrow!" I told her and smiled, pulling back my long black hair.
Tilly grew quiet and I frowned.
"What's wrong?" I sat on the bed and stared at my best friend.
"I don't have any friends there," Tilly whispered, staring down at the seams of the comforter.
I placed my hand on her warm one.
"You have me," I smiled. "And I'll never leave you." We embraced and I smelled her flowery scent. When we let go Tilly grinned up at me, her sparkly blue eyes shining, but I saw a deeper longing beneath them. She wanted more than just someone she had made up, she wanted more than her imaginary best friend. I tried to keep my smile steady, but I knew this was the age that kids usually fell away from their imaginary friends.
I was her best friend though, ever since the beginning! She had created me from her own imagination. She formed me to have Pegasus wings, a slim figure, and shining brown eyes. She wanted me to be beautiful, so I was. I wore a silk dress with pearly sleeves and I was everything she ever wanted. How could she ever want more than me?
I was all she had!
We crawled into bed once she changed into her pajamas and I slid in next to her. Her face was downcast again and I kept my smile on so she would know I was there for her, no matter what, but she didn't meet my gaze.
"Goodnight, Tilly," I murmured, my eyes drooping. She turned her back to me and I could sense she was falling closer to sleep. I looked down at my hands, rubbing the pearl rings on my fingers against one another when I noticed something. My usual peachy glow had vanished and I was slightly faded. I froze as I stared at myself. This was what happened when kids stopped believing in their imaginary friends.
I squeezed my eyes shut, praying it was only the lighting that made me look faded. Soon, I fell asleep.
I woke up to the sound of Tilly brushing her teeth. I bolted upright, dazed.
Why had I slept in? Usually I woke up right once Tilly remembered me, right once she woke up. I turned to face her and smiled, trying to mask my hurt and confusion. She nodded her head to me, her eyes sparking at the sight of me, but not in the usual excited way. Things went normally in preparation for school, but I noticed that my glow still hadn't recovered. I pretended nothing had happened.
The school day went normally, too, except for her theatre class. She met someone.
A small girl with curly brown hair greeted her at the door and sparked a conversation. Tilly immediately brightened her glumness. I smiled as mixed feelings washed over me. I was so excited she was feeling better, but it wasn't me that was making her feel happy, which I had never felt before, and I got to feeling jealous. I stayed at the edge of the room, watching them talk and talk. I growled to myself. Tilly noticed and glanced at me, but swiftly turned to face her new friend again. I felt tears grow in my eyes as the realization set in.
She had made a new friend. Which meant she didn't need me anymore. I stared down at my feet. They were dull. She was already forgetting me.
When the class ended, Tilly walked out of the room, forgetting me. I gasped, betrayed and angry. I scrambled after them, my wings brushing against the door frame. I reached them, trying to get beside them, but I was stuck in the back. They were talking about a sleepover. That night. My graying face turned a shade red.
"No!" I yelled and Tilly gave me that same sideways glance. "What about me?" I whispered. She shrugged and I felt like someone had stabbed me in the heart. The rest of the school day crept by and I went between raging mad and a sobbing mess. Tilly was my girl and I had no idea that it would be this hard to let her go. She was the only thing in my life I had ever loved so much. And what would happen when she completely disowned me? Would she simply forget all of the times we've had together? Was she really that disloyal?
Tears streamed down my face and I realized that my hands were extremely faded, I wasn't that far away from invisible.
"Tilly-" I whispered, tapping her shoulder.
"Not now," she replied through the corner of her mouth and shrugged her shoulder away from me.
My heart split again. "But-" my voice was silenced as she purposefully tuned me out. I gazed at the back of her head, stomping behind them. They never stopped talking and I was irritated. They reached our house and giddily flew upstairs in a flurry of giggles. Like how Tilly and I did. More tears spilled out of my eyes. After an hour, the new friend, Paige, left to go get her things for the sleepover. Tilly stuck to her homework, working fervently on her school so she could spend all night with Paige.
"So, are you excited for tonight?" I asked Tilly, my voice coming back now that she was alone. I tried to keep it light and pleasant, I was happy that she was feeling better, but I was torn between so many emotions. I had to still be there for her. It was a promise.
"Yeah!" she cried, not looking at me.
"I'm really-" my voice broke. I cleared my throat and tried again. "Really happy for you."
My heart was breaking.
Tilly nodded as she finished her math and moved onto history. I slowly slipped away and onto the bed, burying my face into my practically invisible hands.
Paige came back, grinning.
"I missed you!" they screeched at one another and I grimaced, gagging in my mind.
They rolled out sleeping bags and blankets, making a cozy nest on the floor. They talked about school and teachers and life and preferences and I scowled at both of them as they did it. I could feel myself slipping away and Tilly didn't even notice.
"Tilly, I need to talk to you!" I shouted, merging all of my emotions into a desperate plea of urgency.
Tilly looked up at me, and I was shocked to see irritation flash across her gaze.
"Sorry, Paige. I'll be right back."
"Sure, Tilly Willy!"
She nodded at me and I walked out with her.
I couldn't keep back my overwhelming sadness as we stared at each other.
"What?" she questioned, crossing her arms.
"Tilly, I-I- want you to remember me."
"I do," she said.
"You're forgetting about me, don't you see?" I opened my arms to show her my practically invisible self.
"You're just jealous that I have a new friend," Tilly scowled.
"No! I mean, I don't care that you have a new friend, but I don't want you to get rid of me!"
"I'm not getting rid of you."
"Look at me!" I begged and grabbed her arm. "I'm fading! You're forgetting about me!"
"I can do whatever I want," Tilly shouted. "I finally have a new friend and you're be selfish!"
"We're best friends! This isn't you!"
"Have you ever thought that I'm growing up? I have a new friend now! Shouldn't you be happy for me?"
I felt myself fade even more.
"I am!"
"Then how about you show it."
"I am happy for you! But what about me?"
Tilly's face broke out in anger.
"You're not real! You're made up! You're just my imagination!"
I took a step back, but you couldn't see that. I was almost invisible, nothing but a trace of a shadow. I stared at her as she turned away from me and headed back to her room. She paused at the door and glanced at what was left of me.
As she turned the doorknob, a tear slipped down my face as I faded from existence and into a memory.

I hope you liked the story, sometimes I hate how terrible and sad my stories can be.XD It sort of reminds me of Bing Bong from Inside Out.;)

P.S. I just realized that the imaginary friend doesn't have a name...;D

Creating World Writing Camp - Project One

Hi everyone!:)
CWWC is back and I am SO excited! The prompts were awesome and I immediately had an idea for the three prompts.:) It's just so much fun to figure out a story for every prompt!;)
These are the prompts I used!

I am on Team Dragon FYI! WHOO HOO!;D

Ellie paused as her gaze ran over the familiar words of her favorite novel, Through the Looking Glass. It was so imaginative, so extraordinary how Alice could travel through a mirror. Reading was her escape from the loneliness that pressed against her at all angles. Ellie looked up and around her small empty bedroom that was in a small empty house. Her parents never really came home, they were busy working, living separate lives, which left her alone for weeks before she saw them. Tonight was an especially hard night where she felt the emptiness deeply.
She sighed, stood up, and meandered around her room. What would she do in Alice's place, to go to a brand new world? What kind of world could there be other than this one? Ellie ran her fingers through her thick brownish red curls and spied her long mirror sitting on the floor. She twisted to face it and giggled at herself.
What kind of world could there be?
Grasping the book in her hands, she sat in front of the mirror and stared at her reflection. She took in her small pointed nose, large, brown, almond shaped eyes, thick lips that didn't quite have a Cupid's bow, and cleft chin. She pulled her hair away from her forehead then stretched and twisted her face in odd angles. After a couple minutes, she slipped her hand outwards to the glass mirror. It was silly, foolish even, but she found herself desperate for an escape from being alone so often. Her fingers hit the cool glass and she grinned at how foolish she was being, but she didn't remove her hand. She shook her head and took her hand back, but it was stuck to the glass. Ellie's eyes widened as she yanked her hand away. It was as if it were glued to the mirror. Desperately, she began to work at her hand, ripping and tearing at it although it stayed firm.
"Help!" she yelled. "Help!"
No one replied, yet she already knew that no one would. She gasped in ragged breaths as her mind raced to try to find a way out. A minute later, after her fit, she hesitated. Reaching out her free hand that held the book, she touched the mirror with it. It, too, became glued to the mirror. Could it be possible?
Ellie pushed her hands in farther and they disappeared behind the glass.
"This is insanity," she whispered breathlessly as she went deeper into the mirror. Soon her torso was going into the mirror until she was completely gone.
***
She woke up in a dizzy fog. Ellie looked all around her, feeling sharp pains in her abdomen. They felt like shards of glass jabbed inside her, but she remembered the mirror traveling and somehow knew it was a side effect of the mirror.
Once the pains ebbed, she heard a roar and she whizzed around to see a huge dragon gallop toward her. Screaming, she leaped up and tore through the forest around her, not understanding where she was. Other than the fact that she had traveled in a mirror, she had no idea what happened. The dragon chasing her flew through the air, its curled wings pumping and getting it to go faster than Ellie could ever run.
It landed in front of her and she fell to the ground, cowering at the sight of such an unexplainable beast.
"Wait!" it cried and Ellie shrieked.
"Who are you? I'm not here to hurt you or anything!" it said in a slippery voice.
"What?" Ellie mumbled. "How?"
"How what?"
"You're a dragon..." she whispered, shaking in fear.
"And you're a human," the dragon pointed out.
"Well, yeah! That's what everyone is!"
"Not here...wow..." it sighed in awe. "You must have come from a mirror!"
"How did you know?"
"The Ferrymen tells us about Mirror Travel. Not like they tell humans though. They're not allowed to Mirror Travel. It's not safe for the other creatures." It scrutinized her, its golden gaze taking in her appearance. "So, the question is, why did they let you Travel?" it whispered in a sly tone.
"Ferrymen?"
It nodded. "You wouldn't know 'em. They don't make themselves known to you all."
"I really did go through a mirror? Where am I now?" Ellie questioned, coming out of fetal position.
"This is just Vaprot. Nuttin' special. But you! you come from Earth!" the dragon roared, then grew quiet. "And you're not s'pposed to be here..." it's voice became whispery and sing-songy.
"I don't know what happened," Ellie admitted. "I just disappeared into it."
"They left a mirror unguarded?"
"What?"
"Mirror...unguarded...I thought they weren't allowed or something. You'll probably have to go back before they find you."
"Back?" Ellie asked, horrified by that idea. "But I'm in a whole new world!"
The dragon thought about this. "But...on Earth, you wouldn't let a dragon fly around, would you? You have to go back before the Ferrymen come and take you with force!"
Ellie couldn't help but feel a little silly. "Ferrymen don't seem very-uh- frightening."
"You've never seen 'em though," the dragon laughed. "So..." it drawled. "Back to Earth then..."
It nodded back to where they had started the short chase.
"I can't get back though," Ellie replied as she stood up.
"Yeah, you can. The mirror travels with you so that you can always get back," the dragon responded and began to walk next to her.
Ellie wasn't set on going back just yet.
"Um, so what's it like here?"
"What's it like here?" the dragon snorted. "Um...that's an odd question. It's just another world. Maybe it's a lot like yours, maybe it's a lot different. It doesn't really matter."
"Ferrymen, what do they do?"
"They are the ones who control Mirror Travel so that creatures can explore other worlds. They guard the mirrors, too," it explained. Ellie could sense a little bit of angst to its tone about saying things about the Ferrymen and about her being here, but she had questions and she was not leaving yet.
"Why don't humans know about the Ferrymen?"
"Because you guys are dangerous! Humans do war and bad things and most creatures in other worlds despise that."
"Not all of us are bad," Ellie said.
"Whatever," the dragon said. They were quiet for a moment then she piped up again.
"I'm Ellie."
"Uh, cool?" the dragon replied.
"Are you going tell me your name?"
"I don't have a name," the dragon laughed, which sounded like joyful hissing.
"What? Why?"
"That's not what we do. We don't need to be called names. We are who we are."
"That's...weird. Then what am I going to call you?"
"You're not gonna call me anything," it hissed. "You're going back to Earth."
They reached the mirror and Ellie paused, not taking a step closer to it. She stared at her reflection in it and noticed the haziness of it, as if it was liquid. As she thought about going back, she felt the deep grief of loneliness swelling in the pit of her stomach. The dragon growled, it's curly horns and spikes twitching.
"What?" Ellie asked, looking at it.
"You...have...such emotions. They're potent."
"You can feel my emotions?" she gasped.
It nodded, it's eyes filling with a cloudy liquids.
"You-you're lonely."
Ellie froze as she waited for it to continue.
"This hurts-" the dragon clawed the ground.
"Are you okay?" Ellie's loneliness was pushed aside as worry for the dragon took center stage.
Its claws eased and it sighed.
"I am now."
"Oh."
They stayed in mutual silence and Ellie was about to beg for it to let her stay for just a little while until she felt like leaving, when it said, "you should stay."
Ellie gasped.
"Not for a long time! Not even for the night! But-- for a little while."
"Thank you!"
"The Ferrymen won't notice yet, but they will in a few hours. That's when you'll go," the dragon demanded and she nodded her head eagerly.
"I have so many more questions! Are there more dragons? What other creatures are there in other worlds-"
"Please, Ellie..." it cried. "No questions. Silence is a good companion."
"Oh," she murmured. "If I'm staying...what should I call you?"
"You're not staying long, but I just want you to feel not what you felt before. The loneliness."
"Can't I call you something?"
"I-" it paused. "I wouldn't even know what you could call me."
Ellie scrutinized the dragon's dark purple scales, golden gaze, and black curly appendages hanging from its cheeks.
"Amethyst?"
It curled its lip, showing sharp fangs.
"Whatever."
"I want a name you like."
"Amahyst is fine," it shook it's head, unable to form the 'TH' well.
"What can we do here?"
"Enjoy the peace and quiet," Amethyst replied, then noticed her face.
"I s'ppose humans need a source of entertainment?"
"We prefer it, yes," Ellie said and then realized the book still in her hand. "I have a book though, if you like quiet."
"Book? How odd!"
"You've never read a book?"
"Nope! But if it's quiet, I have a perfect place for you to do it."
Ellie smiled as they went to Amethyst's perfect place. As they drew closer to it, she heard the gorgeous sound of water rushing down from a waterfall, it was quiet but still crystal clear. They reached a bridge that spread over the waterfall and Amethyst glided to the middle of it with Ellie not too far behind. As mist flowed over them, she read her book with a blissful look of peace over her face. She leaned on the dragon's chest, feeling peace. For once in her life, she was together with another creature that seemed to enjoy her, even understand her although they weren't even the same species.
She glanced up at Amethyst and caught it staring at her, a curious and happy gaze fixed on her. It quickly looked away, down to the waterfall. The hours flew by in what felt like seconds and soon Amethyst slowly drew itself up with a sigh.
"It's time for you to go home."
Ellie's bliss was torn as she looked up into its eyes. Amethyst didn't want her to go and Ellie didn't want to go.
"I could stay a little bit longer-"
"No. You've stayed too long anyways. It's time to go."
They gazed down at the mirror that glistened with dew from the cool mist that clung to both of them.
"Can I come back?"
"I wouldn't forgive you if you didn't," Amethyst smiled and Ellie knew it meant it.
"I'll come back really soon! I swear."
She reached out to touch the mirror when it stopped her.
"I've grown sort of fond of you, Ellie."
"Me, too."
Ellie stood up and hugged the dragon, wrapping her arms around its wet body.
"Thank you."
She let go and the dragon smiled sadly.
"I'll see you soon."
Ellie let her fingers dig into the mirror and she slowly disappeared into it. She finally knew she had a friend. One that loved her even after such a small time.
When she woke up on her gray carpet, she grinned. She couldn't wait for tomorrow, when she would go back to see Amethyst.

The next day went by slowly and Ellie didn't even mind that her parents didn't show up, even though they were supposed to every Friday. When she got back from school she flung her bag to the side and climbed to the top of the stairs where her bedroom was. She threw her door open and gasped when she saw what lay behind. A tall and thin creature reminiscent of a human stood there, but his pale yellow skin and scarlet eyes told otherwise. It was a Ferryman, she could tell.
"You've been Mirror Traveling to forbidden worlds. You must not be permitted to go back." He lifted a silver dagger from his leather belt and pointed it at the mirror.
"NO!" Ellie shrieked, her voice thundering. The high pitched scream sounded through her little room and the Ferryman's red eyes rolled to the back of his head. She took her one chance and grabbed the mirror and split away from him. He reached out for her but only touched her hair. She was already out of the house, the Ferryman running after her. He was blindingly quick and he gained on her within seconds. She raced on the road, eyes stinging with tears as fear coursed through her blood. She couldn't lose Amethyst. It was her only friend. She only needed to touch the actual mirror and she would get to the dragon's world. Her pumping legs and the adrenaline inside her wouldn't let her stop to touch the glass though and she continued to sprint away. The Ferryman screeched at her and she dared to glance back at the tumbling creature who was now on all fours, pursuing like an animal. Her eyes wide in terror, Ellie felt something snag her foot since she wasn't looking where she was sprinting. Everything began to spin as she fell as if she was in slow-mo. Her body crashed onto the mirror and a gut wrenching crack shuddered through her whole body as the glass shattered beneath her. She lay rigid on the street, not daring to look underneath her even though she felt cuts on her skin.
Sobs racked through her body as she knew what the broken glass meant. The only unguarded mirror on Earth, and she had broken it. The Ferryman had disappeared, his mission complete.
Ellie crawled onto all fours and stared at the mirror. The broken mirror. The broken friendship. The broken girl in the reflection. Tears flooded over the shards as the reality set in her heart. Loneliness followed. The beautiful world she had witnessed was gone and most importantly, Amethyst was gone.
"I'm sorry. So sorry. My only friend now gone-" Ellie broke down into more sobbing as she gazed at herself. She was left alone. Again.
