24 Hour Reading Day!

Hi everyone!
Okay, so a week or two ago, Kendra (my sister) and I did a 24 hour reading marathon, where we wanted to see how much reading we could get done in the span of 24 hours!
Now, I didn't start at midnight and go to midnight, cuz... sleep is important, but I did read for as much as I could during the time I was awake. ;)
And I documented it all for a blog post!! :D
Enjoy!

10:30 am-
I've been reading for the past hour now in my Percy Jackson book. I have a feeling that once it gets more into the main quest, I'll get through the book quickly... I think. Not that it's boring. I like it. XD
Kendra just recently surfaced and I assume she'll start reading with me soon! My goal for the day is to finish Percy Jackson and make it almost halfway though another book. :) Now hopefully I can not get distracted by friends or Instagram.... XD XD
*legit just spent ten minutes on Instagram*
*sigh*

10:50-
Back to reading!!!

12:25 pm-
I've gotten over half of the Percy Jackson book read, I definitely think I'll be able to reach my goal! Kendra has now joined me, (late much?) so yayyy!!

1:10-
I'm taking a sort of break from reading to see if my friends can text.... ;)

(This is how you read, right? Oh, and I do have hair it's just up in a bun. O.O XD)

5:30-
Long time no update! I've been reading, but Kendra and I had to run some errands and we got some food. We're back home now and are reading strong! I'm close to finishing Percy Jackson! Only about forty-ish more pages left!

6:20-
I FINISHED PERCY JACKSON! Definitely getting the next one. And probably the next. And the next. XD
I had been expecting different characters, so it was weird that I had only heard of Annabeth and Percy... I was thinking Leo Valdez, Jason, and Piper and all those characters would show up, but I guess that's for later! NEXT BOOK NOW! ENTWINED!

8:00-
I'm taking a break from reading and now am spending some time drawing and watching a show with my mom. :)

9:20-
I've officially gone back to reading. Let's see how far I can make it in my book in the next hour-ish! PHONE OFF!

10:25-
A whole hour without using my phone, and I got around 80 pages read! WHOO hooo! XD This book is just getting really interesting. I think reading like this is helping my writer's block for NaNo... it's making me think about how much I like stories! :D

10:40-
I'm gonna try to read as much as I can before eleven, when I do my last things and go to bed. I doubt I will have completed my goal, but I still got lots read!

11:05-
I have finished reading for the night. I'm probably a quarter of the way through Entwined, which isn't too bad! Considering I haven't read many books the past YEAR, reading, like, over 400 pages in a day is great! :D

***
And by now since I've finished Entwined, I can say IT WAS SO AMAZING! EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT. YES YES YES.
AND YES.
AGAIN.
5/5.
READ IT.
DO IT.
O.O

I hope you enjoyed the post! I had lots of fun reading, the last time I read all day was probably the day after the "Neverseen" launch party where I just read "Neverseen" all day. XD Good times, good times. ;) I want to do more of these posts where I draw or write for an entire day and share the progress, but I don't know which one to do first. Which one would you like to see more? Me going crazy while writing all day or me going crazy while drawing all day? ;)
-Emma-
What are some of your favorite books? Have you read Percy Jackson or Entwined? :)

What I've Been Reading - A Post Where I Get Super Excited

OKAY GUYS!
Let me tell you a thing.
I believe it was last summer, maybe two summers ago, but that summer (of undetermined year) I decided- HEY. I'M GONNA READ SO MANY BOOKS. I had a goal of like...I don't remember...fifty books maybe to finish in that summer. I didn't reach my goal, but I still read a lot of books...and...ever since then...I've been in an awful case of reader's slump.
The dreaded zone where no books interested me, and I didn't want to read and just why???
I was in that for a loooong time, and except for occasional books that I loved, I just...didn't read.
Until now! I'm so happy to announce that I think I've finally exited my insanely long time of reader's slump!!!
*celebration*
*confetti*
*books*
So, of course that means it's time to read as much as possible until I hate words.....
....
....
....
Right?
*smiles innocently*
I want to read as many books as I can this August, plus yesterday marked the first day of a reading challenge I am doing with my sister, Kendra! I'm super pumped about it, I'll explain it more as the post progresses. :D
The books I've read this month are these three!
Lock and Key : The Initiation
Dawn of Spies
Three Dark Crowns
Dawn of Spies was the first book I read this month, but it was more like "finished", I started it a while ago, then stopped because I wasn't enthralled and didn't realize I was, like, twelve pages away from the ending.
*facepalm*
It was a good book, but slower. I would rate it a 3 out of 5. :)

Lock and Key was next, and it was goooood. I love Sherlock Holmes and this was a fun new story about him, and more mainly his arch nemesis Moriarty! It's told from the viewpoint of Moriarty's sister, Moria, and it's a great book! It blends mystery, growing up, and a hint of romance really well! :D
I'd rate it 4.2 out of 5.

Three Dark Crowns....now I don't usually venture very far into the YA category because WOW I'M A TEENAGER I MUST WANT SWEAR WORDS, INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT, AND ALL THINGS 'OH MY GOODNESS WHAT AM I READING'. But this book was pretty okay...
Uh, despite some...ehhhh... inappropriate stuff... I wouldn't recommend it for kids. It had only a little swearing, but for a YA book it was practically clean for that area, and the story and characters were good and always kept you intrigued. I still just can't fully endorse it with the bad stuff in it, but if you're on top of it, you can skip things. ;)
Oh, and it also had some darker magic stuff I kind of felt weird about, but...I mean...considering how most YA books are...I mean...I guess...
I GUESS WHAT I AM SAYING IS DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSION AS TO IF IT WOULD BE OKAY FOR YOU OR NOT. XD

Now onto the reading challenge!
For the path I am taking in the quest (there are four different paths) the type of books I need to read in are--
A Book with a One Word Title : SABOTAGED (which I am currently reading)
A Book That Contains Magic : Entwined
A Book Based on Mythology : Percy Jackson (I almost wrote that Peter Jackson oh my word)
A Book Set in a Different World : Pegasus - The End of Olympus
The First Book of a Series : Wings of Fire
Out of all these books, Entwined and Percy Jackson are the ones standing out to me the most. I'm so excited! I was reading about books a blogger recommends and I saw Entwined and I immediately put it on my BUY NOW list, even though...as I got it, I realized I hadn't really looked at what it was about? Um...How did I even manage to do that? XD
And Percy Jackson is...well. Percy Jackson.
I AM READY TO COME TO YOU, PERCY JACKSON FANDOM.
Also, a note worthy book is Cinder, which I have started but haven't finished yet because my focus is on the books I can read to complete the challenge... ;)

So tell me, my blogging peeps, what books have you been reading? Have you read any of the books listed in this post? What's your all-time favorite book? Clara, I already know what yours is I'm suuuure. ;D
*cough Keeper cough*

-Emma-
P.S. Ooh! Ooh! Also, be proud of me because I wrote almost 500 words tonight in my book. YAY ME. XD Doing things I haven't done in forever...;)

Iced Tea and a Read - February Edition

Hey everyone!
I'm here with my February edition of Tea and (add word here)! I realized I didn't do a January one. Oops.;) LOL!
What I am Reading-
Model Undercover : London
What I am Drinking:
Iced green tea.
This is the third book in the Model Undercover series. I am in love with it, it is about a detective/model, Axelle, who solves fashion mysteries. I love how the author mixes modeling and solving mysteries, two unlikely subjects that make a perfect match! I have been devouring the book over the past two days and can't wait to see what's going to happen next.:)
Since the weather where I am is creeping (did I say creeping? More like SKYROCKETING!) hotter and hotter (it's been in the nineties. That should be illegal somehow!!), hot tea is kind of impractical. So, I opted for some iced tea. We get it from Trader Joe's, and I think my mom even adds some peppermint essential oil for extra mint flavor.;)

I hope you liked reading about what I have been reading and drinking.;) I have a lot of posts ready, so expect more soon!:)

Tea and a Plethora of Activities, but Mostly Reading - December Edition

Hi everyone!
I want to post around three different things today, but that would be a little overwhelming, so I decided since today is the last day of December for me to do my "Tea and Whatever" post, I should probably do this.;)
Okay, here we go!
Since Christmas has come around, I have gotten a ton of books! Listed below are ones I have bought or have been gifted.:)
The Unwanteds - Island of Fire
The Land of Stories - The Enchantress Returns
The Witch of Blackbird Pond
The Bravest Princess
Luck Uglies - Fork-Tongued Charmers (which is not pictured.;))
But, you ask me, what about Storybound, the one on the top?
Well, I actually started re-reading that one before I got any new books for Christmas, so I have to finish that one first.:)
Although I am mainly reading today, I am also going to be finishing up my drawing for the next part of Glazed!:) So, that will be up tomorrow or the next day.:)
Beautiful books.
*tears up*
AND I am not only reading and drawing, I am going to be watching a few episodes of Clone Wars, a new TV show series that has interested both me and my sister.:)
So, today is going to be a very full day.;)
I forgot to put a picture of the kind of tea I am drinking, but it's one of my classic favorites, the candy cane peppermint tea (I think that's what it's called!;D) from Trader Joes!:)
The tea isn't what is exciting me though, it's the amazing mug it's in!OoO
It's A KYLO REN MUG!
AHHHHH!!!
I got it yesterday and I am in love! It's what any Star Wars loving, tea drinker could ever want.
It.
Is.
HUMONGOUS.
I feel like every time I want to drink from it, I have to prepare myself.XD
And there's a lid that comes off, it's amazing because without it, he wouldn't have his complete helmet/mask!
I am just so happy with this mug, it's so big I could swim in it.XD Or maybe a tsum tsum could swim in it.;)
Well, I gotta get back to my reading (or possibly drawing)!:D
And no, Pinterest! You shan't get in the way of my reading....for long!;) LOL!

Bedtime Book Tag!

Hi everyone!
I was nominated for this tag by Kathryn, and I am so excited to do this! It looked so fun and I loved her post, so here it is!:D

1. A Book That Kept You Up All Night-
KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES! Those books would always make me really upset when I had to go to sleep. I am SO EXCITED FOR THE NEXT KEEPER TO COME OUT IN NOVEMBER!!! IT'S SO CLOSE!!!!

2. A Book That Made You Scared To Sleep
Hm, I really don't read a lot of scary books, but I do remember one night I was reading the first book in The Seven Wonders series for the first time and I was already anxious so I became worried that what was happening to Jack would happen to me since he had just turned 13 and I had just turned 13 at that time.;) But I love that series now. I AM ALSO VERY VERY EXCITED FOR THE RELEASE OF THE NEXT BOOK FOR THAT SERIES TOO!!!

3. A Book That Made You Go To Sleep
Hmmmm, usually if there are books that are THAT boring, I end up not reading it...Lemme go look at my book cases and see! BRB!;)

Okay, I'm back and I have three books that I was too bored to finish reading-

Theater Shoes by Noel  Streatfield
I was so bored when I began this book, I got to page four and couldn't continue! LOL!

Johnny Tremain by Esther Forbes
I couldn't finish this book either. Really, some historical books are just SO boring (but I do love exciting historical fiction)! They get so bogged down with the details that I feel like there isn't a plot! You all will think I'm crazy, but I really can't read any classics!

OH MY GOSH!!!! FORGET ALL OF THOSE BOOKS I JUST LISTED!!! THEY ARE THE BEST BOOKS IN COMPARISON TO TREASURE ISLAND.
WORSE BOOK EVER!!!!!!
I absolutely DETEST that book. I can't believe I even finished it! It was so boring it took me a couple weeks to finish! UGH!

4. A Book That Left You Tossing And Turning All Night In Anticipation Of It's Release
Keeper! SO KEEPER! But, if I have to say a new book each time, then I would say....
Story's End by Marissa Burt. When I read the first book in the sequel, I was dying to read the second one!:D

5. A Book That Has Your Dream Boyfriend/Girlfriend
*sigh* This is Keeper again.
I WILL MARRY FITZ!!!!XD LOL!
He's so perfect and just all around AMAZING!!!! But I would totally date...OH MY GOSH I CAN'T REMEMBER HIS NAME! OH! KEEFE! Oh my gosh, that was so weird. I couldn't remember his name for so long! I feel so bad!XD
But yeah, Keefe and Fitz. I tell the book covers how gorgeous they are. I think I might have a problem.....;)

6. A Book That Would Be Your Worse Nightmare To Live in
I had to think about this for a bit, but I decided on Inkheart by Cornelia Funke. Probably because the author inside of the book got to meet the terrible villain that he had created and how he was so terrified. And just seriously CAPRICORN IS SO SCARY! I really wouldn't want to meet him!
(Also, that book is one of THE best books and I recommend it if you don't mind a ton of swearing. Really, I don't know why people have to add a swear word to every page! AND TO A CHILDREN'S BOOK!)

7. A Book That Reminds You Of Night Time
I'm going to have to say Pegasus by Kate O'Hearn just because the cover was painted to look like night time.:)

8. A Book That Had A Nightmarish Cliffhanger
Uhhhh, I feel like a lot of the books I read don't have that great of cliff hangers. I'm going to have to consult my book cases again...Enthschuldigung...(German for excuse me.;))

Okay, so I didn't find a lot of books with epic cliffhangers, but I remember that the Half Upon A Time series had some good ones!:)

 9. A Book That You Actually Dreamed About
Hm, I can't recall dreaming about a book (yeah, I'm boring, sorry:/). I'm more of the person to dream about shows, for instance, Sherlock has come into my dreams many times!;)
But I have daydreamed about books a lot before, like myself being characters in books.;)

10. A Book Monster You Wouldn't Want Want To Find Under Your Bed-
There are so many creepy monsters in the book universe, but I think that waking up with a Bog Noblin under your bed would be TERRIFYING! Bog Noblins are from the book The Luck Uglies by Paul Durham. I really want the next book in that series!:)

Well, that's it! That was super fun and I really loved making this post! I can get really crazy about books. Especially one in particular...hehe!;)

I tag anyone who loves historical fiction books!:D

Three Books Down, Thirty-Seven More To Go!

Hey everyone!
I am going to keep all of you in the loop with my progress of my summer challenge!:)
The first book I finished was Calico Captive, then I finished The Missing: Found (That was so good I couldn't put it down! So many plot twists! Great if you like time travel!), and today I just finished Jake and Lilly (A really easy read, also a great book if you don't mind some crude words).
I have been gong to Barnes and Noble a lot in the past few days, and in all I've been blessed to be able to get the following: The Copernicus Legacy - The Serpents Curse and The Missing: Found, Jake and Lilly, The Unwanteds, and a Medieval Puzzle book!
I can tell that this summer is going to be fun already!;)

40 Books - Summer Challenge

Hi everyone! I'm sorry that I haven't posted in forever, I have a story idea planned for one of those writing prompts in the previous post, but I just haven't gotten around to writing it. I will do that soon!:) But that is not the point of this post, the point is----
During the whole summer, my goal is to read 40 books. I know, a lot, I'm not even sure I can do it myself, but I want to try!:D The first book I'm reading is Calico Captive. It's a really good book so far, but at times I find it a little difficult to keep reading.;)
Today, I am going to the book store to buy, what else?, books! I'll probably make a post of what I bought.:)
Anyway, that's it for now. I have some drawings to show all of you too, so expect that coming soon!:)
-Emma-
Do you have any goals this summer?:)
